Redact text
PDF Pro 2 can be used to reliably redact text of a sensitive nature. A block of text can be rendered illegible to the extent that its original content no longer forms part of the page-marking stream.
Any text you redact will also be redacted within the document’s metadata. This includes any bookmarks or text within comments as well as hidden, non-user accessible metadata.
- Using the Text tool , select the span of text to be redacted. This can be anything from a single word to an entire story.
- Then choose Text > Redact. Alternatively, press Ctrl+Shift+R or choose View > Toolbars > Redact and press Redact Text on the toolbar.
- The selected text will be obscured by a solid box. This is the way the text will appear when the PDF is opened in any other PDF viewer.
- You can undo this change whilst editing, but once you save the document, the redaction becomes permanent and cannot be undone.
- To change the colour of future redactions or to add a label to the redacted text, choose Text > Redact Style. See Redaction style.
